President’s View

To be fully independent, active participant in all aspects of society and to have a life with a dignity are the desired personal goal of every individual regardless their disability or any of other status. Children and adult with disabilities have an equal right with others.  However, persons with disabilities are left behind exercising their human rights and fundamental freedom as there is very little efforts has been made in development interventions to address the needs and rights of persons with disabilities in our society. There is still limited understanding as well as limited competences among the duty bearers at every levels of the state towards persons with disabilities.

Nepal is one of the underserved countries and most of the people live in rural Community where there are no facilities to enjoy basic human rights. Such as Water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), transportation, health services. Though all people are affected with lack of basic services in these communities, persons with disabilities are affected most. Girls and women with disabilities are more marginalized, vulnerable and deprived to lead an active life.

As a ramification, majority of people with disability are left behind in all aspect of life. They are not been able to enjoy their Basic rights. They are struggling through acute poverty, discrimination and stigma, feeling low self-esteem and so on. sports have been proved as one of the effective means to achieve   active life. games are gaining a huge popularity these days for mental and physical development. Games are more beneficial for person with disability but there is a perception that Cerebral palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Spina bifida, sever Spinal and others are unable to play. Keeping this objective reality in mind, we started Boccia sports in Nepal 2007.Through this sport we can developed confident, brotherhood, socialization and sports for health, sports for all and Sports for Nation. Sports give an opportunity to demystify the myths associated with persons with disabilities by making them active, effective and useful citizens.

The game of boccia is such a game which gives opportunity equally to persons with severe disabilities. That is why this game is becoming widespread popular Across the world Now a days. Hence, we established Nepal Boccia Association for the Disabled with a very clear objective to promote the game of boccia targeting persons with severe disabilities. Our goal is to Prepared players to compete at different Level-Community, school, District, province, National and International. We are not enough our self to achieve such goals, we would like to request all like minded individuals and organizations to provide your helping hands to support our mission.

We would also like to take this opportunity to extend our deep appreciation and thanks to our partners and supporters, specially Sports Council, ministry of youth and sports.
